Christmas 2011 gift for the Textpattern developers
Announcing a fund raising effort to thank and reward the Textpattern Developers team for all their efforts and hard work on Textpattern in the past year.
Last year we raised 930 Euros for the 4 Textpattern Developers, and I hope we will be able to match this effort in 2012.
How it works:
- To donate, please visit TXP Tips and pay using the PayPal button
- We collect donations until December 31st
- I’ll update this post every few days regarding how much we have collected and the donors’ names
- On January 1st the total amount collected will be split into four and sent directly to the Developer’s PayPal accounts
Thanks you to everyone who contributed this year! We raised US$1600 from 47 Textpattern community members!!

I am not a huge PayPal friend, so I decided to join by paying a visit to Stef’s Amazon wishlist instead (as suggested last year already).

I agree – nothing could be adequate to express the value of the developer team, or of TXP!! <3
Just a suggestion, but most people are pretty over-extended at this time of the year, whether for gifts, travel expenses, other family stuff. I think it would be awesome if this could either be an ongoing effort, or done more than once a year (i.e. twice a year, 4 times a year), or extended to end of Jan.

Hi Mave, I think the ongoing effort would be covered by the donations page on textpattern.com, although I would argue that a donation screen should be added to the default install process.
As for this effort, I think once a year is enough for the reasons you mention – its more special if done less often and people have bills to pay. I tried to make it easy to donate something – as little as US$5, but I have been surprised and gratified to see some much larger contributions.
